I have had the honor and privilege to work with Kurt for three contest seasons thus far, and the results have been more than I could have ever dreamed of. Year one: winning an overall title with straight first place votes. Year two: winning my natural pro card. Year three: getting runner-up by one point in my first pro show. NONE of this would have happened without Kurt’s expert guidance.
Kurt selfishly devoted many hours to helping me achieve my goals. There were in-person meetings, calls, emails, posing practices, picture/video reviews, etc. During the entire process I was made to feel like my physical progress was his number one priority, which really helped me keep pushing hard during times when the rigors of contest prep set in. Every question I asked (which at times could be numerous) was answered quickly and thoroughly. Kurt prepared me and “dialed me in” so perfectly, that actually getting on stage and competing in the contests was easy.
While Kurt’s no-nonsense approach can be tough at times, the results speak for themselves. I have been asked who my coach is at every competition, and am quick to give Kurt the recognition he deserves. For anybody that wants to take their physique to the next level, I absolutely recommend Kurt Weidner.
As a personal trainer, Kurt truly strives to help his clients learn proper form and technique while pushing them to go beyond what they knew their bodies were physically capable of. I can confidently say that I would have rather worked with no one else after having trained with Kurt. He showed me new moves to implement in my workouts, where my diet could use improvement, how to properly perform exercises I had been doing wrong, and so much more.
After working with Kurt in the gym, I hired him as a contest prep consultant and continue to learn from him on a daily basis. He takes the time every week to read over and critique my diet, workouts, weight changes, and even the amount of cardio I do. If that wasn't enough, Kurt also finds the time to answer the many questions I come up with during the week almost as fast as I can think them up.
In the 3–4 months since I began working with Kurt Weidner, I have dropped close to 30 lbs and 3 pants sizes. Additionally, I have managed to bring my body below 15% bodyfat and am continuing to get leaner with his assistance. Kurt's passion for the lifestyle of natural bodybuilding and dedication to physical fitness inspire me every day and proves that the human body's capabilities are limitless. I truly value having met Kurt and would highly recommend him to anyone, regardless of your level experience in the gym.
I first met Kurt Weidner after providing some remodeling for his family members. When I came to Kurt for personal training,. I weighed 210 lbs. and had a waist size of 37”. At 54 years old, I realized that the future might bring some health issues unless I shed the pounds gained after years of business travel and restaurant meals.
My first 3 month membership at the Weight Club was totally wasted since I just didn’t know where to start and did not have the encouragement to push myself. Renewing my membership and signing up with Kurt was a big turning point. Between April 2009 and Oct1, 2009, I lost 25 lbs and 5” off my waist. My cardio endurance was greatly increased and my strength tripled for some motions. I just did what he told me to do and hung in there. After about 30 days of intense training. I began to lose 1 to 1-1/2 lbs per week. I also followed much of his nutritional advice and have developed much healthier eating habits.
I must say I have been inspired by Kurt as well. He is without a doubt one of the most focused and disciplined individuals I have ever met! If I had been as focused and disciplined as Kurt at his age, I have no doubt I would have achieved much more success in my business efforts and physical conditioning. I would recommend Kurt to anyone who is SERIOUS about improving their health and strength.
On Oct. 1, 2009 , in a work accident ,I fell about 12 feet onto some rocks and crushed 2 vertebrae I also ruptured 2 disks. As of April 2010 I have not been able to resume training yet. Doctors and friends have all commented that I was extremely lucky not to have been injured more seriously. All have commented that my training and physical condition probably helped prevent much more serious injury. This I attribute to Kurt. I will resume training with Kurt as soon as I am able.
Hiring Kurt was the best bodybuilding investment I've made. He shared from all his own hard work and knowledge, bringing me up to speed for my first pro season. His relentless dedication, work ethic, knowledge base, candor, and humility were enough to bring the best out of me for three contests in 2008. His own level of conditioning for a show is typically far ahead of anyone else on stage. I hope to get to know him more over the years and look forward to seeing his future competitive successes.
I was a national elite competitive gymnast when I was younger, so I grew up learning about fitness, diet and training. I quit gymnastics before going to college and since then have stayed very active and exercised regularly. However, in the past several years I had noticed a plateau in my overall workouts and fitness level and was not making any progress nor was I seeing any results in my physique. My workouts consisted of the same exercises and the same cardio day in and day out, even though I knew this was counterproductive.
Kurt's presence alone in the gym is a very motivating one. To watch him workout can do nothing but motivate you to work that much harder and to not settle for mediocrity in your own workouts. With that, I was inspired to give my own exercise regimen a makeover with Kurt's help and guidance. All of the workouts he designs are carefully thought out for each individual client, paying special attention to his or her overall fitness goals. The energy he puts into training his clients is apparent after even one workout. I have been so happy with the results. I haven't felt this "in-shape" or been this happy with my physique since I was a competitive gymnast many years ago.
I thought I knew all there was to know about working out and fitness because of being a gymnast, working in gyms myself, and being a nurse. But, Kurt has taught me so much more! I have learned how to continually improve and change my workouts to get the maximum benefits. He is constantly looking for new and better ways of training different parts of the body. Kurt is an incredibly dedicated and professional personal trainer and I would highly recommend him to people of all fitness levels.
I’ve been lifting at the same gym as Kurt (The weight club) for about 3 years. Even before hiring Kurt, I noticed his work ethic and dedication to the sport of bodybuilding. If there was one person working hard in the gym…It was none other than Kurt Weidner. Every day I went to the gym I was hoping Kurt was lifting at the same time…just being in his presence served as a catalyst to me pushing the limits.
After my freshmen year of college I decided that I wanted to get serious about bodybuilding. I used to spend countless hours online searching new routines and diets. Eventually it just got too stressful, and decided to hire Kurt for consultation. Right there was the best decision I’ve made thus far in my bodybuilding journey.
Working with Kurt has taught me a lot more than just constructing workout splits and diet…he teaches the mind-set. I’ve learned that bodybuilding is a very psychological sport and you need a lot more than just a good routine and diet to get results. He has taught me that I need to be patient and to take it one day at a time. Whatever bodybuilding mental struggles I encounter, odds are Kurt has gone through it and he knows what it takes to overcome them.
On top of his outstanding qualifications and knowledge, he is very prompt! I never have a problem getting hold of him and he always responds to emails very quickly. He is my 911 for training/diet emergencies.
If you’re trying to get serious about changing your body and living a healthier lifestyle…then Kurt is the man for YOU!
I have been training with Kurt since Fall 2005. I have always had an interest in weight training, and enjoyed the activity, but have never had great results. I have realized that many of my past workouts were no more than maintenance workouts. Kurt has driven and guided me - not to just reach personal goals, but to exceed them.
I had an original goal to lose 30 lbs. and lean out. I wanted to add muscle, but being over 40, I knew I had work to do. Kurt has worked with me, constantly making changes and adjustments to my training sessions and giving me dietary counseling. I can honestly say that I have never done the same training session twice with Kurt - there is always some variation or a new exercise to challenge me. I did lose the 30 lbs., ultimately losing 41 lbs., and I dropped my bodyfat to the lowest it has been since I was a teenager. My waist size had blown to a 38 inch waist (pre-Kurt training). I had a 36 inch waist size from age 16-40. Now, at age 45, my waist is a much thinner 34 inches - I have not had a 34 inch waist since the 9th grade!
I am leaner, healthier, have more energy, and more stamina than I have had in years! Friends and acquaintances often comment to me "What are you doing? You look great!" They are surprised when I tell them about my lifestyle and even more surprised when I share how much and how often and well I eat - they just expect me to say I am starving myself. With Kurt's advice and guidance, eating better foods and more often has helped me lose the unwanted weight and bodyfat and maintain a tremendous energy level, even on my most stressful days.
Kurt can guide you; all you have to do is follow his advice. Kurt practices what he counsels, and he is constantly re-evaluating his own diet and training and sharing new ideas and techniques. I would recommend Kurt to anyone who is serious about fitness and good health and can give the dedication to themselves that it takes to meet the challenge!
I can honestly say that the only reason I am an IFPA Pro today is because I followed Weidner's Principles. Kurt Weidner's Principles, that is. Having him coach me for the 2007 Presidential Cup in Washington, DC made the difference between me winning the overall title and simply placing in the middle of my class.
His knowledge and dedication to natural bodybuilding is second to none, and he willingly shares this knowledge with all of the athletes that care to ask. His precise advice on nutrition and training, especially in the crucial few weeks before the show, brought me to the best shape and condition of my life, a dream of mine transformed into reality. Kurt has also helped me with my evening routine, and his choreography provided me with exactly what I was looking for--nothing but graceful presentation of the physique.
As I look into the future, there are many bodybuilding contests that I would like to be a part of. I will, without a doubt, be hiring Kurt again to guide me to an even better shape of my life.
My love for lifting started about three years ago, when I began college. When I moved to Blacksburg and began working at The Weight Club I was exposed to and viewed a different level of how people train in the gym. Kurt Weidner approached me to see if I would be interested in competing in The INBF Natural East Coast, in the spring of 2008.
Making the decision to compete in The Natural East Coast changed me for the better. It changed my mentality, focus, drive, commitment, and will to work hard. About ten weeks into my training I began working with Kurt Weidner with my diet, training, and posing. Kurt has such a depth of knowledge, understanding, and expertise of nutrition for the female bodybuilding/figure competitor. He knows that each person is different and has the desire and commitment to learn your body type, what you respond best to, and what will make you look the best when you step on stage. He is committed to giving you the best results so that you know on your show day you did everything in your power to perform at your very best.
I was lucky enough to not only gain knowledge about my diet from Kurt, but to watch and train with him and other friends in the gym. Kurt’s presence in the gym makes you want to work harder, do one more drop set, or push that last repetition past failure. My best workouts, where I walked out of the gym knowing I worked as hard a physically possible, were with Kurt. His work ethic and mentality are contagious. It made me want to train harder, be stronger, and want more. I recommend Kurt to anyone who wants to change his or her body, diet, lifestyle, and overall out look on how you can push yourself to the next level, wherever that may be.
To be honest I had a contest preparation coach when I learned about Kurt Weidner. I watched him get ready for his contest, watched his blog. When I saw his diet and how he was implementing it for himself, when I saw his conditioning, when I saw his workout logs – I knew this was the coach for me. There are so many reasons that I reached out to Kurt.
Kurt helped me to think outside of the box when it came to workouts. I was training one body part one time a week. He had me implement a different type of split and results became noticeable shortly after.
Even though Kurt is an extremely busy person, he always took the time to respond to my emails or pick up the phone when I had questions. He explained things in a precise and detailed manner, and made it easy to understand. I was truly impressed with the coaching he had for me during peak week. We were on the phone communicating almost daily about changes in my body, how I was feeling, how I was reacting to food, etc. The night before the competition and during competition day we kept in touch repeatedly. This blew me away. I honestly didn’t expect this type of communication.
Kurt has gotten me in the best shape of my life. The shape that I was in during ‘figure’ season carried over to my offseason and my adventure racing team qualified for USA Nationals with only 3 months of training. No regrets with hiring Kurt, more than anything he has helped me to ‘learn’ my body.
Kurt is the real deal!
I thought I trained with intensity...but that all changed after I met Kurt! I was toying with the idea of becoming a competitive bodybuilder and had seen Kurt's many posts on forums that showed his intensity, conditioning, and dedication to the sport...and it was the truth! I knew that if I hired a trainer, I didn't want someone that was going to yes me to death, and say how wonderful I was doing even if i wasn't. If you want a trainer that knows everything there is to know about bodybuilding, and with your own willingness to exceed in this sport, Kurt is the trainer for you!
As a trainer Kurt takes the time to go through everything that you need to know, whether its nutritional information, workout information, or questions about your upcoming contests, he will make sure you understand it all. Kurt will also be at your side, or just a phone call away (depending on where your contests are) during your actual bodybuilding/figure shows. He will help you make your body look perfect for those 30 minutes that you're on the stage!
Kurt helped me make the transition from being a gym enthusiast to a competitive natural bodybuilder. In my first season competing, I went from being a novice competitor to winning my IFPA Pro Card at the OCB Iron City Classic. This was only 32 weeks after hiring Kurt as my personal trainer!
If you want a trainer that is going to help take you to the limit, and then help push you BEYOND the limits of normal human beings...Kurt is the one for you. Like this website states many times over...
Kurt Weidner...Hardcore Natural Bodybuilding. PERIOD!
Nine months ago I decided I wanted to get in better shape, but knew I needed some motivation to get myself to the gym on a regular basis. As a pharmacist, my days at work are up to 13 hours long, therefore, making it very hard to work out regularly. I decided to start training with Kurt two to three times a week during the weekdays that I had off. This turned out to be a great decision! Not only has Kurt offered excellent nutritional advice, but he has also provided me with workouts that have pushed me to limits that exceed what I thought I was physically capable of. One quality that I really like about Kurt is his straightforward attitude - he will give you honest feedback and not a false sense of your progress.
In the course of the last nine months, I have seen great improvements in my strength, cardiovascular endurance, energy, and desire to work out. Thru taking Kurt's advice, my weight has decreased some, my body is more toned, and I eat much healthier than I did when I first started. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my progress, and therefore would highly recommend Kurt as a trainer!
Prior to beginning my training with Kurt in October, 2006, my main form of exercise had been running. I had completed several half marathons in the previous years. I encountered an injury that forced me to back off on my running and I gained about thirty pounds. I needed to find an alternative exercise plan, quickly.
My husband and I met with Kurt for nutritional consultation and development of individualized plans to assist each of us in pursuing our physical goals. My weight had been up and down over the years, like a yo-yo. I had tried most diets out there, most notably, the Zone, Weight Watchers, Jennie Craig, and Slim Fast. They all worked to some degree, but I always felt like I was on a diet and was unable to continue them long term. Immediately after implementing Kurt’s guidelines, I noticed that I was not hungry between meals, my mood was steady, I had no cravings for chocolate or sweets, had more energy and was more alert
In addition to the changes in my eating habits, I started training twice a week for one hour with Kurt. After just six sessions, or three weeks, my husband commented that my training was already effecting noticeable improvement in my body composition. As I continued to work with Kurt, the improvement continued. I periodically let Kurt know that I wanted to increase my training intensity. Before resistance training, I was very weak in my upper body and actually tended to slouch forward when sitting, standing, etc. I have seen dramatic improvement in my upper body strength and posture. I had not realized how weak my back was until I had a strong back. He did a wonderful job at keeping me injury free while working towards my goal. In February, 2007 I decided to train to compete in my first bodybuilding contest. At the age of 47, this was no small decision. I competed in the 2007 INBF Natural Atlantic Coast, and was pleased to bring home a 3rd place trophy in the Open Women Heavyweight Division. The experience was fun and personally rewarding. Kurt’s ongoing professional advice in training, nutrition and contest preparation was indispensable to my success.
I would recommend Kurt Weidner to anyone interested Body Building, or anyone simply interested in charting out a course to improve their personal health and fitness level.
I am not a bodybuilder. I am a 51 year old wife and mom, currently working as a Substance Abuse Counselor at Virginia Tech. Recently I decided to get back into decent shape. I wanted to become fit again, to reconnect with the athlete I used to be; the person I had been many years ago when I ran cross country, track, and played basketball. I began working with Kurt in an effort to shed 12 lbs and to get advice in the area of nutrition.
Kurt reviewed my fitness goals, analyzed my current diet, and came up with a personalized daily food plan for me to follow. With Kurt’s coaching and his challenging workouts at the gym, I gradually learned the benefits of a clean diet and accepted the fact that getting back into shape required a lot of dedication and a little bit of pain.
Kurt helped me realize (and believe) that I still had the ability to push through physical and mental barriers. During our workouts, Kurt kept raising the bar to motivate and inspire me to do my best. It took me 4 months to lose 12 lbs. Once I reached my first weight loss goal I wanted to keep going. I lost another 5 lbs and improved my overall conditioning to the point that I was able to participate in a 5k race, and 5 mile Turkey Trot. In the last 2 years, I have completed two Disney half-marathons and participated in two Fitness Challenges at Blacksburg Health and Fitness Club. I am currently training for the Chicago Marathon which takes place October 7, 2012. I finally know how to use most of the equipment in the gym correctly now, and I actually enjoy leg days!
I highly recommend Kurt as a personal trainer. He is a true professional and not only will he help you attain your fitness goals, he will give you the tools to surpass your own expectations. Thanks Kurt, see you at the gym!
I started competitive natural bodybuilding a few years ago when I turned 40. Each year I progressed and my placements improved but I was always just coming up short each competition. I knew I needed to come in sharper and harder than ever before. Finding a knowledgeable, well respected, natural pro is what put me over the top. Although never meeting Kurt personally his long distance training program and advice was nothing short of amazing. I placed my 16 week prep solely in his hands and the results speak for them self...
2007 WNBF Masters & Mens Open PRO CARD #921
See you in the Pro's......
I decided to try my hand at bodybuilding for the first time at age 31. Thinking I was too old to get started in this sport, I surprised myself with the changes I made to my body and got hooked. Luckily Kurt was promoting that show and I got to know him. So I asked him to help me for my next attempt at competing. The changes I made over the next 8 months were unreal. My desire and work ethic hadn't changed, but my diet and training methods were now completely based on Kurt's advice. I placed well in a very tough class of bodybuilders and with some good offseason work could probably put myself on top. The custom plan that fits my work and life schedule was the key factor. Kurt's knowledge of physiology, nutrition, posing, etc. seemsundending and will be to what I oweany success in this sport.
My journey into the world of natural bodybuilding began in July of 2005. Shortly after obtaining a front desk position at the gym Kurt presently trains at he approached me to see if I was interested in competing in the upcoming OCB Battle of Blacksburg competition. Up to that point I had no prior knowledge pertaining to bodybuilding much less the diet, workout regiments, and posing that accompanied the sport. With Kurt's guidance and support I was able to transform my body, in only 12 weeks, to a level I could not have previously envisioned. He is by far the most knowledgeable person I have met in the areas of nutrition, weight training, and supplementation. His love and dedication to the sport of bodybuilding has since then rubbed off on me and it has become a lifestyle that I will continue for the rest of my life. I now share that same hunger and drive to push my body to the limit for continual improvement that Kurt has engaged in for over 10 years now. I would highly recommend Kurt's services to anyone looking to take their body to the next level in physical fitness. You will be pleased and amazed with the results that come with the proper guidance and motivation.
After a 2 year hiatus from the bodybuilding stage, I decided to compete in the late summer and fall of 2006. After 10 competitions and 14 years of experience training and dieting, I have amassed size, conditioning, and knowledge that has allowed me to place well and even win a few weight classes, but never an overall and never a pro-card. I still felt as though I was having trouble finding the edge that I knew was there. I had learned through experience, trial and error, but that was not enough. 2 weeks out from my first competition of 06 I called Kurt and simply said, what do I do for the next 2 weeks? He responded before I could even finish to tell him that I was at a plateau. He said, we are going to dial you in to win this thing, you have paid your dues, and it is time. Always skeptical of having a guru, or anyone take any control of my diet or training, I listened to what he had to say.
I emerged from the OCB Presidential Cup as the Heavy Weight and Overall winner, and newest IFPA professional bodybuilder. I achieved my two longest desired goals of winning an overall trophy and turning pro. Thanks to Kurt, I was able to be good enough to win.
Now with 6 weeks until my next competition Kurt has been given complete control of my pre-contest nutrition, and I am confident that with his knowledge, experience, training tips, and my hard work, that I can win another coveted pro-card in the WNBF, and continue to move up the ranks and improve as a competitive athlete.
If there is ever a person to trust and listen to when it comes to everything from the basics to the advanced, from elite bodybuilder competition to the average person wanting to shed a few pounds and be in good general health it is Kurt Weidner. He has successfully trained and consulted with many successful amateur, and professional natural bodybuilders. His abilities and work ethic are unparalleled in the world of fitness.
I have competed in quite a few contests and have done well at it, but always felt that I could do better. That is when I decided to have Kurt take over my contest Prep. Kurt changed my diet and my entire workout schedule around. Well, the results were immediate, because within 8 weeks, I won my next show winning the Masters Overall and the Open Overall.
He stayed in constant contact with me the entire contest prep and closely monitored any changes that were taking place or not taking place....and made the necessary adjustments. Even on the contest day, he made the necessary changes after prejudging to dial me in for the night show. He has been an inspiration for me to continue to challenge myself to take my body to the next level. I continue to work with Kurt for my upcoming contests and will continue into the off season as well.
I have witnessed many champions and Pro's coming out of the Blacksburg area, and I am sure most of them were helped or influenced in some way by Kurt. His reputation for conditioning is well known throught the natural bodybuilding community. If you are serious about achieving your goals to being the best natural bodybuilder you can be, then I would highly recommend Kurt and his services.
When I moved to Blacksburg I decided that I wanted to start getting back in shape and getting stronger so that I could feel better and try to walk-on to the VTech football team next year. It had been years since I had lifted weights and my upper body had always been on the weak side. After working out with Kurt for 3 months I was able to do twice as much weight in all of my upper body exercises. The natural foods Kurt has me eat, along with the supplements, gives me more energy throughout the day and more energy during my workouts. Which enables me to have really intense workouts. His workouts push me harder than I think is possible at times, but I just do what he says and it's made a world of difference. The greatest feeling is knowing that it's all natural, it's just you maximizing your own body's potential through eating right and exercise. And it's always nice to visit home after the semester and see the reactions of all my friends and family.
They complement me a ton and all of them ask what I've been doing to get these kinds of results. I've been very pleased with my choice as Kurt Weidner as my trainer.
I had been training as a competitive bodybuilder for about 2 years upon Kurt's arrival in Blacksburg. I thought I poured a good bit of dedication and passion into the sport, but my own perception of the word dedication changed when I met Kurt. I have never met anyone who trained harder; or who put more detailed thought, planning, and effort into every possible aspect of preparing for a competition. I had the opportunity to train alongside Kurt for 2 years, which were undoubtedly the most productive of my career. I now hold four pro cards with some of the most respected natural bodybuilding organizations in the world. There is no question that Kurt's knowledge and drive to succeed were vital components to my own success in this sport. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking to take their own physique to the next level.
I hit middle age and realized I better get back in the gym. Years away from one had added too many inches to the waist and the muscle definition was disappearing. Ten months on my own and I was only able to regain some definition. I was now at my heaviest weight ever. Kurt worked with me on my diet and training routine. I also started a program of natural supplements, tailored to my age and goals, which he recommended. During the past 35 weeks, 35 pounds have been shed away, my waist has trimmed down over 3 inches and body fat went from almost 20% down to 8.5%! I never thought, at my age, that a bodybuilding show was something I could do. His knowledge of the body and intense training programs in combination with nutrition and supplements has allowed me to EXCEED my goals and set higher ones. Thanks, Kurt!!
When I moved to Blacksburg a little over a year ago, I had a strong desire to continue working with a trainer. I was fortunate to have Kurt recommended to me at that time. The first few workouts were so intense that I had to lay down in the locker room afterward and nearly vomited during the first few sessions with Kurt. Because he was able to push me harder than I could push myself, I knew that I'd made the right choice in selecting a trainer.
